Designed by John Callcott Horsley (1817 1903) and printed in 1842 by J. R. Jobbins of Holborn, the original card bears the sentiment "A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you" and were commissioned by Sir Henry Cole under his "Felix Summerly" pseudonym. Few of the original copies of this card survive!
